Safety and Compliance

Safety at Driver is not just policies, procedures & regulations, it is our culture beginning with management all the way down to each crew member. We believe that the value of our employees lives are worth far more than any profits we could achieve by foregoing safety processes.

Safety is a top priority at Driver and one of its core values.

All Driver employees are reviewed annually on H2S, CPR, and construction safety. All Driver employees receive extensive on-the-job training for each piece of equipment they operate and are teamed up with experienced operators during early phases of training.

A large part of the safety program is centered around formal accredited training programs, on the job training and just in time training being utilized as refresher training on an as needed basis.

Depending on what phase the Project is in, Driver will have anywhere from 15 to 30 personnel on site at any given time.  Once ROW clearing starts, ROW preparations will begin, and Driver will have both clearing crews and ROW prep crews on the Project with around 30 workers.  Once clearing is complete, Driver will average around 25 personnel on the Project.  This includes inspectors, 2-3 fiber techs, safety, mechanics and dirt crews.

Utilizing the apprenticeship program and in-house supervision, employees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with machines used on-site. Employees are certified in EHAP training on a yearly basis, including First Aid and CPR. They also possess both a CDL (commercial driving license) and a Pesticide Spray License.

Xcel Energy Vegetation Management and Driver have a long history of working together, and through this relationship Driver understands the critical value that Xcel Energy places on Safety.  Driver will be required to work under Xcel Energy’s corporate safety program requirements and to develop its own Project specific Safety Plan for its employees.
